Nixu And Lockheed Martin Sign Cooperation Agreements for Developing Finnish National Cyber Resilience

Nixu Corporation, press release, June 6, 2024, at 08:00 a.m. EEST

Nixu, a DNV company and European cyber security service provider, has signed three cooperation agreements with Lockheed Martin Corporation to strengthen Finnish national cyber resilience capabilities. These 3-year projects with academic and business partners around resilience and threat intelligence are already underway.

The cooperation agreement is a part of indirect industrial cooperation connected to Finland’s acquisition of F-35 fighter jets from the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin. The total value of all such cooperation projects is at least 500 million euros.

“We are proud and honoured to participate in indirect industrial cooperation with a world-class player and a wide consortium. Three significant cybersecurity projects included in the agreement with Lockheed Martin will bring concrete value to the whole society. Our great delight is that the overall theme – cyber resilience – is also a strategic business initiative for Nixu,” says Teemu Salmi, CEO of Nixu, a DNV company.

Cybersecurity laboratory with a new level of accreditation services

Within the agreement framework, Nixu is committed to three projects, working with Lockheed Martin and a local consortium that includes Finnish universities and startup companies. The timeline spans over three years, from 2024 to 2026.

The projects include the development of capabilities in areas such as security by design, continuous compliance management, and vulnerability research. In a landmark project, Nixu will establish a state-of-the-art cybersecurity laboratory to support product development, assess systems and devices, and accredit final products by Finnish organizations.

“This laboratory will benefit the Finnish economy by providing organizations with a whole new opportunity to fortify cyber security. Together with our subsidiary Nixu Certification, the laboratory can perform accreditation at a higher level of standards than ever before in Finland,” says Kim Westerlund, Head of Cyber Security Solutions at Nixu. “The lab will enable businesses to ensure already in the early stages of their product development that their products will fulfil cyber security standards.”

AI-based advanced threat detection

The second project involves developing new AI-based technology for advanced threat detection leveraging machine learning. The focus is on creating new capabilities to detect anomalies that indicate the most advanced threats.

Context-aware threat intelligence with AI and LLM

The third project develops context-aware knowledge mining for cyber threat intelligence. The aim is to make cyber threat intelligence better connected to a customer’s business context and easier to utilize. This knowledge mining will use artificial intelligence and large language models.
